Description

MnDot will be reconstructing  Highway 24 through Annandale in 2020.  The reconstruction includes new roadway, storm sewer, sidewalks and city sewer and water infrastructure. It also includes streetscape improvements for the downtown portion of the project.

The project is slated to start mid April and will be constructed in two phases.

Phase 1

Park Street from the Fire Hall west to Oak Avenue- the intersection at Park and Poplar will remain open.  This phase will start in April and is planned to be completed before July 4th.

Phase 2

Will start after 4th of July. This phase includes Oak Avenue from Park Street to Highway 55. This phase will be under construction until November.

Downtown Streetscape

In 2018 the City Council adopted a Downtown Plan to help guide decisions for the reconstruction of main street including the sidewalks, landscaping and amenities in the Downtown, as well as addressing topics such as the canopies, parking, and accessibility. These improvements will include streetscape improvements, canopy replacement, parking and a new and wider sidewalk system

Downtown Businesses are Open for Business!

Where to Park- On-street parking is available on Chestnut, Cedar and Birch Streets and in the parking lots at City Hall square and the intersection of Chestnut Street and Cherry Avenue.

How to access Businesses on Oak Avenue-  Pedestrian access along Oak Avenue will be maintained throughout the project.  Temporary sidewalk has been installed in the areas where the concrete sidewalk has been removed and for the pedestrian crossings located at Chestnut and Cedar Streets.  Pedestrians can access Oak Avenue at Chestnut, Cedar and Birch Streets.  There is also a walkway from the City Parking Lot (located at Chestnut and Cherry Ave) to Oak Avenue between Lu's Café and Young and Brown Law Offices.  For safety reasons, please only cross Oak Avenue at the designated pedestrian crossings at Chestnut and Cedar Streets.

How to access City Hall Square Parking Lot-  The City Hall Square Parking Lot is accessible from the alley on Chestnut Street.  Please note, the alley is temporarily restricted to one-way traffic entering the alley from Chestnut Street.  All traffic must exit the parking lot area going north towards the St. Ignatius Church Parking Lot.
