Message from the Chief

pete chief

I took over the position of Chief of Police for the City of Annandale, MN in June of 2020. I am immensely humbled at the opportunity to serve the City of Annandale in this capacity. I have spent much of my law enforcement career working in some capacity with the Annandale Police Department and look forward to this newest venture.

I want to give you a brief overview of my philosophy in regards to my approach towards public safety.  Looking forward to the future, nothing gives me more satisfaction than driving around our beautiful city and seeing individuals and families happily enjoying this community. In my opinion Annandale has always been a family friendly and welcoming community. This is evident in the abundance of city parks, beaches, and other locations designed to encourage healthy activities, such as the new Annandale Rec Park.  I want people who live in and who are enjoying this community to feel safe and secure as much as reasonably possible.

However, as is human nature, there are many facets that work against this desire. Traffic issues such as speeding motorists, fighting and domestic quarrels amongst people that affect the peace and safety, and drug and alcohol struggles are just a few of the things that can negatively work against community peace.

It is my hope that we as a department will stay focused on the current problems, yet have the vision to see future problems coming long before they get out of control. I have encouraged officers to be proactive and friendly when patrolling the community. I want our officers to be professional in all interactions, demonstrate care, concern, and fair policing. I want you to know that if you have a problem involving public safety that myself or my officers will do our best to address and remedy your concerns. We will continue to build and strengthen our relationship with the public.

Finally, I want to thank you for trusting me and my department. Your public trust is something I do not take lightly. We know nothing is ever perfect but I will strive to set a standard of conduct within the department that you would be proud to be represented by.

It is my honor to serve this community.

Pete Standafer
