Code enforcement plays an important role in maintaining the community's well-planned neighborhoods and high quality of life. As our community grows and welcomes new residents, it’s important for everyone to understand and follow the standards that keep our city a great place to live.
Property & Yard Maintenance
City code requires structures and yards to be properly maintained.
Common maintenance issues include:
- Damaged doors, fences, roofing, siding, and windows
- Peeling or flaking paint
- Lawns exceeding 10 inches in height
- Poorly maintained landscaped areas
- Noxious weeds that are not controlled or removed (example: Canada thistle)
Exterior Storage
Materials and equipment must be stored indoors or fully screened from view (behind a solid fence or wall), so they are not visible from neighboring properties. Exceptions include: outdoor furniture, grills, clotheslines, and similar items.
Waste, Debris & Containers
All properties must be kept clean and free of debris. Pet waste must be cleaned up daily, including during winter months.
All garbage, recycling, yard waste, and other debris must be properly contained and not allowed to accumulate on the property.
Waste and recycling containers must be stored indoors or screened from view when not set out for collection. Containers may be placed at the curb the day before pickup and should be returned to storage after pickup.
Recreational Equipment
Only one large vehicle or trailer may be parked on a driveway or parking pad.
A large vehicle or trailer is one that exceeds 12,000 pounds, 22 feet in length, or 8 feet in height, but must not exceed 15,000 pounds, 24 feet in length, or 9 feet in height.
